Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

These simple bowls are made from clay dug from beneath my Auckland garden and mixed with South Island stoneware.

They hold the evidence of my hands, pinching and shaping them.

They have been fired many times.

They display the results from my choices of glaze colour and application, and the elemental time spent in the kiln.

Their surfaces tell richly textured stories, just as events and choices in life chronicle the layers of a person’s character and particular perspective.

Lightly tethered to one another, there is a constant, reminder of the past colouring how we might view what is yet to happen.
