It’s but a Shadow of the Truth, beneath a Veil of Honesty
It is in our nature to want to be seen, to be appreciated and valued, to feel like our lives count for something. Visibility is a tricky quality to cultivate; being individual enough to matter yet not so different that ostracism occurs.
Character and physical appearance are linked; jobs, social status, gender, race, morals, past deeds or misdeeds add up to a representation of our selves which is then enhanced or modified by our physical appearance.
It’s possible to end up with a carefully constructed façade tacked on; an outer layer defining ourselves to the world around us while the real self hides from view.
Sometimes it’s just a thinly veiled cover for the truth.
